About Department of Economics
History
Aksaray University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, which was established in 1992 within the body of Niğde University, was affiliated to Aksaray University in 2006. Department of Economics; It serves with the branches of Economic Theory, Economic Policy, Economic History, Economic Development and International Economics. The academic staff of the department, which has started active undergraduate education since the 2011-2012 academic year, consists of 3 professors, 5 associate professors, 4 doctor lecturers and 4 research assistants.
Objectives
Economics undergraduate education is aimed at examining the decisions of individuals and societies in meeting the human needs with limited resources and the reasons, effects, and effectiveness of these decisions in a broad perspective. In the Department of Economics Undergraduate Program, the aim of education is to provide students with a solid theoretical background in their fields and to support this with econometric and statistical methods and analysis in applied fields. Through the training given in the department, it is aimed to educate individuals who have theoretical and practical knowledge in the fields of economics, finance, and law, who are able to follow the innovations in their fields and use new technologies.

To be a pioneer in economic research and education by specializing and collaborating with its faculty and students to generate new ideas and insights and push the boundaries of knowledge.
Mission
The mission of the Department of Economics is to teach students to think critically and to use the science of economics to analyze and solve problems related to important economic, political and social issues.
Profile of the Program, and Employment Opportunities
In addition to theoretical and applied economics courses, there are courses in law, finance and business disciplines. The core curriculum, which consists of compulsory and mostly theoretical courses in the first two years, provides the department students with the opportunity to specialize in their fields of interest through elective courses starting from 3rd and 4th grades. Graduates of the Department of Economics have employment opportunities in initial career positions especially in the public sector such as; financial sector and private sector, assistant specialist, assistant inspector, assistant auditor.
Admission Requirements
High school graduates who want to study in Turkish universities are required to get enough points from university entrance exams. Placement is done by ÖSYM (Student Selection and Placement Centre) taking into consideration the preferences of the students. The students who are entitled to enroll in the Department of Economics at Aksaray University are required to provide the documents announced on the website of the university and register between the specified dates. The criteria determined by ÖSYM and the quota allocated by the university are taken into consideration in the acceptance of students from abroad.
